Tried Not to Notice It

March 8, 2009.

Christa and I were food tripping. We ate pizza while sitting on the apartment floor. We weren't satisfied with pizza so we decided to buy ice cream. Luckily, an ice cream cart passed by. Christa ran out of the apartment to catch up with the Mamang Sorbetero and bought 4 ice creams: 2 pops and 2 Cornettos. I asked her why she bought 4 and she said she couldn't decide. I'm not sure if this was what exactly happened that day but this I remember for sure, my phone rang. It was our oldest sister Ate Cy. We wanted to prank her by not answering the call since she'd usually ask us about the latest Gossip Girl episode. But after 3 more rings, I picked it up. Her voice on the other line sounded like she had a knot in her throat and before she had dropped the bomb, I had sensed it.

March 8 2010.

Yesterday, I woke up at 7 and was tired from the day before. I was helping a friend finish her project. I loitered in bed and pretended not to see the morning. I decided to move at around 10. I dragged my feet across the room and did what I had to do - take a bath, brush my teeth and clean my room. I wanted to study but I ended up watching the Oscars. I ended up going to class. I ended up going to Jollibee with a friend and ate a 1 piece Burger Steak. Then I came home and helped my friend finish her project. We were watching The Dead Poets Society while being at it. There was a scene there where Neil (the lead actor) took a gun in his hands and killed himself with it.

I paused.

And realized.

I remembered what happened on that day a year ago but I did not want to see or feel. I did not even want to see the sun until I saw Neil lying on the floor.

It was then that I realized that it was good.

It was good to be alive.

You're always remembered, Dancing Queen. Always in our Hearts...
